

This little fishing town is another jumping-off point for tourist to Pulau Perhentian besides Tok Bali of Kelantan. It is a compact square township with narrow streets, shops, hawkers center and souvenirs outlets in the town center.

A number of speedboats and tour operators for Pulau Perhentian can be found here. Crossing the bridge is the original fishing village of Kuala Besut. Here are the scenes and the characters that some tourists especially foreigners looking for. Also, just right after the bridge, there is a famous family run Malay food stall by the road offering delicious Nasing Dagang every morning.

Jerteh is about 15 km or 30 minutes journey from Kuala Besut. It is merely a transition town with less characteristic for those who is heading to catch a boat in Kuala Besut or Kota Bahru.
